Class on June 24

For the class on June 24, the teacher capitalized on the importance on making a good slide show. One way of making a good presentation that the teacher recommended was to use the PSE slides. PSE slide is a slide that is more visual. With maximum of 5 words per slideshow and it taking only 5 secs for the viewer to understand a slide, it enables the viewers to be able to focus more on the presenter and what was being presented at the time. On top of that, the teacher also introduced various ways of marketing. A few of the examples are by infographics, brochure, magazine articles and websites. We were also taught on ways to make a logo for our website by using Canva. Canva is a graphic design platform that allows users to create social media graphics, presentations, posters and other visual content. It's very simple to use and also, importantly, free. I have used Canva a few times before and have found it very easy to use––especially for someone who has no prior experience with phot...

Class on June 16th

For the class on June 16th, the teacher introduced us on websites to get copyright free pictures such as Pixabay and Flickr. As well as also explaining to us what CC licenses are. There are 6 difference license types: CC BY, CC BY-SA, CC BY-NC, CC BY-NC-SA, CC BY-ND, CC BY-NC-ND.   The six licenses and the public domain dedication tool give creators a range of options. From there, we decide which license is appropriate as we think about why we want to share our work, and how we hope others will use that work.  On top of that, he taught us how to make a good presentation by showing us slideshows and how to adjust fonts to the pictures that we have on our slides. I have learned that making the slides simple by limiting it to bullet points instead of having a lot of texts on the slideshows, using high quality images, having a visual theme instead of using the Powerpoint templates, and using fonts as well as choosing colors well will aid towards good powerpoint slides.

Class on June 10th

For the class on June 10th, the teacher showed us a video about BeeHive, which is a company that began in 2007 under the goal of providing more job opportunities for people in Malawi. From when it started until now, BeeHive has trained thousands of Malawians to gain workplace skills. After that, he mentioned briefly about Seibo Japan, and how they are also an NGO who aims to implement school feeding and provide school meals in a partnership with local communities. The teacher also mentioned about the fact that Seibo Japan is one of the companies that helps Malawi's economy by importing their coffees and selling them to individual customers. Which then comes to the part where the students of Business English Communication comes into play. Our project for the class, is to design a website on the coffee in Malawi, and think of a way to sell and promote them to customers. If the people in Seibo Japan liked our ideas, there are chances that they will put it up on their website, and ...

Class on June 3rd

For the class in June 3rd, the teacher taught us how to use basic IT skills as us students did not know how to share google docs and how to share their screen with the teacher. Because class on June 3rd wasn't very productive, in this week's homework, the teacher wanted us to write about why it is important to do our homework beforehand and also why is it important to have basic IT skills. Personally, I think IT skills are an essential requirement for the majority of job roles. Having these skills will help us organize our workload, streamline processes and access digital information. ICT systems can also save time in school and workplace and make us more productive. On top of that, when applying for jobs, improving our ICT skills is a sensible way to give ourselves a competitive advantage over other candidates. As for the importance of homework, I believe there is a link between homework and academic achievement. The time we spend on doing homework will develop more than ...
