Class on July 29
Today for the class on July 29th, we had our real presentation. Me and Iman practiced a few times before today's presentation to make sure that everything will run as smoothly as it should. The whole presentation took us about 30 minutes and I would say it went quite smoothly. After the presentation the teacher gave us some inputs regarding our presentation skills and our slideshows.
For me, it seems that I use a lot of filler words like “um” when I have to think while I present, so the teacher gave me some pointers regarding what I can do with that. One of it is that he introduced me to this club where they help people be better at public speeches. While that doesn't include presentations and making slide shows, it still seems like something that would really help me cut out filler words whenever I speak in public so I will check it out.
On top of that, the teacher also gave us some pointers regarding the things that we need to fix with the slideshows such as fonts and to not put image on top of each other and to line up images and sentences so it looks much better for our future presentations. He also mentioned that we needed to change our profile pictures on our websites as it looks slightly unprofessional so I will also work on changing that as well.
All in all, I am glad I took Business English Class. I have learned so many presentation skills from how to make a better presentation, how to take a good profile picture, how to check for copyrights for pictures and be more confident when I am speaking in public and doing presentations. The class has been fun, and despite it being online this year with Coronavirus, I don't feel like I absorbed or learned any less than I did in a physical class.
