Class on May 13th

For the class on May 13th, the teacher introduced a lot of new writing tools that I didn't know about. There were lextutor.ca, analyzemywriting, paperrater and Rewordify.

Lextutor is a website that helps count the total words we have written. Not only that, it also goes into detail and show the users the percentage of the K1000 words that's in their writing, which is 1000 most frequently used words in the English language; the percentage of K2000 words, which is 1000-2000 of the most frequently used words in the English language; percentage of the AWL (Academic Word List) used in the text.

Analyzemywriting is a website that helps analyze our texts. All we need to do is to copy paste our texts and it will help us calculate things such as Basic Text Statistics, Common Words and Phrases, Readability, Passive Voice and so on.

Paperrater is a website that helps check users' grammars and spelling. It could also be used to detect plagiarism, which we all know is a growing concern these days for both teachers and students.

Lastly, the teacher mentioned a website called Rewordify, which is a website that helps simplify difficult English vocabularies and reword it in simpler English that makes it easier to understand.

The teacher explained it well, very detailed and patient. As far as how useful it will be to me, I don't think I will be using any of these tools regularly, but it's interesting all the same to be able to learn about so many new writing tools.

Overall, it was a good lesson covering a lot on writing tools and how to use them. I look forward to the next class.
